Overview

In today’s interconnected world, the most effective leaders and problem solvers think on a global scale. The International Relations (IR) major at CMU Online will immerse you in the study of other countries, economies, and ideals so you’ll be ready to communicate across cultures and drive positive change. You will learn concepts such as balance of power, power transition theory, nuclear deterrence, mutually assured destruction (MAD) and so on to understand current world politics. You’ll explore causes and solutions for urgent global problems, including civil war, forced migration, human trafficking, terrorism and environmental threats. Offering chances to study in locations around the world, including Great Britain, Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Ghana, Malawi, Italy, Mexico and Chile, our program will broaden your horizons and prepare you for diverse opportunities to make a difference.
