About the Program:

CMU’s M.A. in Early Childhood Leadership is designed for experienced early childhood professionals who are ready to lead beyond the classroom. This program moves beyond curriculum and instruction to focus on systems-level leadership, advocacy and organizational impact.

You’ll build practical skills in leadership, coaching, policy development, grant writing and evidence-based decision-making. Coursework emphasizes social justice, ethical leadership and equitable access to high-quality early learning.

Delivered fully online, the program fosters meaningful peer collaboration and professional networking. You’ll graduate with a professional portfolio that supports advancement into supervisory, administrative and policy-focused roles.

Program Outcomes:

Graduates earn a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Leadership (non-licensure) and are prepared for roles such as:

In the K–12 Leadership emphasis, you’ll qualify to sit for the Praxis SSA and earn your Michigan Central Office Certificate. In the Higher Education Leadership emphasis, you’ll gain the credentials to lead at the university or college level. In both paths, you’ll build expertise in:
