Deafblind Intervener, Undergraduate Certificate

 Your Goal:

Develop the skills needed to support DeafBlind students to achieve their full potential and engage with the world around them.

About the Program:

Students of any major and those not seeking a degree can engage in this program to learn what it takes to support DeafBlind students to learn more, do more, and achieve their potential. Leading to a national intervener credential, this 100% online undergraduate certificate program will help you develop skills for working one-on-one with DeafBlind students, ages birth to 21. In addition to a practicum which offers the opportunity to implement learned strategies in an educational setting, you’ll learn from an expert in deafblindness invested in your success. They will guide you on a focused journey of discovery through these four courses:

  • Introduction to Deafblindness and Intervention
  • Building Communication and Language Skills
  • Intervention Strategies and Teaming
  • Intervention Practicum

 This program is designed for people working in schools with a DeafBlind student but can also be completed through a volunteer internship.

 Program Outcomes:

You’ll earn an undergraduate-level certificate that can help you become an asset when working on an educational team serving students who are DeafBlind. During the program, you will develop a portfolio that can be submitted to NRCPara, the organization that awards the National Intervener Credential.

Disability Studies & Community Inclusion Graduate Certificate

About the Program:

You’re ready to answer the call to advocate for those in communities of disability. The Disability Studies & Community Inclusion Graduate Certificate can develop your approach to challenging societal perceptions and constructs around disability, including ways to achieve the de-stigmatization of disability in society.  Coursework also helps you gain expertise in key concepts, across disability studies, such as ableism and how disability is viewed through the lenses of culture, society and politics.
